Published 6:58 pm Tuesday, December 5, 2017

A traffic stop on Interstate 20 Friday led to seizure of about 5 pounds of methamphetamine and the arrest of a Lafayette, La., man on drug charges, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Shawn Romero, 45, was being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $300,000 bond charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Pace said the drug was found during a search of Romero’s 2000 Chevrolet pickup by deputies Jason Bailess and Brandon Jones after Romero was arrested on the traffic charge. The street value of the drug was estimated at $140,000.
