District 1 Supervisor John Arnold will seek re-election as an Independent.

Arnold, who filed his qualifying paperwork with the Warren County Circuit Clerk’s office Friday, was first elected to the Warren County Board of Supervisors in 2011 and re-elected in 2015.

He is the last of the five incumbent supervisors to file for re-election and the only candidate to file qualifying paperwork this week locally.

Only two challengers have jumped into the August primary election after filing qualifying papers with the Warren County Circuit Clerk’s office.

Marty Crevitt and Shawn Jackson both filed their paperwork last week and are seeking positions on the Warren County Board of Supervisors. Crevitt filed as a Republican to challenge District 4 incumbent John Carlisle, while Jackson filed as a Democrat and she plans to face District 3 incumbent Charles Selmon.

Candidates have until 5 p.m. March 1 to file their qualifying paperwork.

Candidate information and forms are available on the Secretary of State’s website or at the Circuit Clerk’s Office.

Primary elections will be held Aug. 6, with a runoff set for Aug. 27, if necessary.

The general election will be held Nov. 5 and the possible runoff Nov. 26.
