Two people were seriously injured late Thursday in a one-vehicle accident on Warriors Trail Road.

According to Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, Jeffrey Dickerson and Felecia Ezell, both 33, were transported to Merit Health River Region Medical Center after first responders worked to extract them from the crashed vehicle.

Pace said Dickerson was driving the 2001 Dodge pickup at the time it left the road and hit a tree. Pace said due to the extent of damage caused, speed could have been a factor in the crash. He also added that neither Dickerson nor Ezell were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Units from the Vicksburg Fire Department and county fire departments responded to the scene and worked “for some time,” Pace said, to extract both individuals from the vehicle.

Dickerson was taken to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson by air ambulance. Ezell was taken to Merit Health River Region, was treated and then transported to UMMC by ambulance.
